THE PLACE & THE MUSIC

A place to pause.

St Malachy’s was founded in 1902 and became closely associated with New York’s theatre community as Broadway’s stages gathered around Times Square. That relationship earned it the enduring nickname ‘The Actors’ Chapel’, retained here in the venue story rather than the display name.

Its compact Gothic Revival interior sits on West 49th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. Midtown Concerts uses this intimate room for free early-music performances, bringing period instruments and historic vocal repertory into a church surrounded by theatres, rehearsal rooms and the everyday movement of Midtown.

Midtown Concerts: individually announced Thursdays, 1:15–2:00pm. Free, no reservations.
