OUR STORY

Free classics in your city.

Across our cities, musicians gather in churches, halls and historic buildings to play. The doors open. People take their seats. Admission is free.

These performances often live on scattered websites and noticeboards. Hour Classics brings them together, so a free lunchtime can become an encounter with a new pianist, an unfamiliar work or a building you have walked past for years.

The music comes first.

Our home is the classical tradition: piano and organ recitals, chamber music, choirs and orchestras. The Romantic repertoire has a special place here, alongside early music and the composers writing today.

Free means free.

A listing must be open to the public without a compulsory payment. Voluntary donations are welcome where the organiser invites them. Free registration and limited capacity are clearly marked. Paid membership, compulsory donations and paid entry are excluded.

Every performance has a source.

We use official organisers’ listings and keep the source on every concert page. Missing programmes remain unannounced. Conflicting dates, times or performers are held for review. The diary will grow as more concerts can be verified.

A good guest.

Hour Classics sends audiences to the organisations providing the music. Booking and donations go directly to the organiser. We don’t collect donations on a venue’s behalf.

Our diary covers London, Cambridge, Oxford, New York, Paris, Berlin, Vienna and Rome. Each city’s diary grows as individual free concerts are verified.
