THE PLACE & THE MUSIC

A place to pause.

The Church of St Ignatius Loyola occupies a prominent Park Avenue site on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by J. William Schickel and completed at the turn of the twentieth century, its imposing neoclassical and Baroque Revival façade and richly finished interior led to recognition as a New York City Landmark; it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The marble-lined nave and substantial organs support a concert programme welcoming visiting ensembles alongside the parish’s musical groups. The church stands close to Museum Mile and Central Park, but concerts listed here do not require museum admission.

Free concerts at different times of day; see each individually checked listing.
