Église Saint-Merry
Afternoon concerts bring chamber music into a historic church close to the Centre Pompidou.
THE PLACE & THE MUSIC
A place to pause.
Saint-Merry stands in the old heart of Paris beside the rue Saint-Martin, a short walk from the Centre Pompidou. Much of the present church dates from the sixteenth century; its Flamboyant Gothic stonework, long nave and unusually rich interior earned comparisons with Notre-Dame.
The church’s musical history is bound to its organ and resonant acoustic. Today its free concerts welcome pianists, singers and chamber ensembles, connecting the historic setting with young performers and independent Parisian musical associations.
Free concerts at different times of day; see each individually checked listing.
