THE PLACE & THE MUSIC

A place to pause.

Centennial Memorial Temple was built in 1929 to mark the centenary of Salvation Army founder William Booth. The West 14th Street complex is a New York City landmark, and its main auditorium seats about 1,350 people within a distinctive Ziggurat Moderne interior.

Stepped plasterwork, angular balcony fronts and a broad proscenium give the room its strong Art Deco character. A five-year restoration renewed the exterior, ventilation, seating and patterned carpets while respecting the original design. The Salvation Army continues to own and operate the venue, with income from external events supporting its social-service programmes in Greater New York.

The 11 September 2026 Beethoven concert is individually verified as free and open to the public.
